Essential Functions

 

General allows you to:

  1. Read the Model and Firmware Version.
  2. Read and Change the Serial Number.
  3. Read the Shutter Count.
  4. Read the Mirror Count.
  5. Read the Release Count.
  6. Print the CameraFAX - Before and After Service.
    • Important: Changing the Serial Number to anything other than a legitimate Canon Serial number can seriously damage the camera.
    • Shutter, Mirror and Total Release Count changes are done in the Shutter Calibration Plugin.

 

Error Codes allows you to:

  1. Read the Latest Error and Last 7 Internal Error Codes.
  2. Read the Possible Causes, including the Lens and Shot count when the error happened.
  3. Read the Date the Error Happened.
  4. Clear the Error Codes after Service.

 

Calibration Data allow you to:

  1. Save the Camera Calibration Data from the original Main Board.
  2. Load the Camera Calibration Data into a new Main Board.
  3. Use salvage Main Boards for a repair.

Auto Focus Calibration

Backup

  • Backup and Restore AF Data, without effecting other calibrations.

 

Calibrate Test Lens

  • Create a Test Lens, used to adjust camera body AF.

 

Sensor Output

  • Make sure the AF sensors are working.

 

AF Calibrate

  • Automatic camera body AF adjustment.

 

Enable Sensors

  • Select AF Sensor lines, used when adjusting AF Shift or Lens AF Shift manually.

 

AF Shift

  1. Manually calibrate AF.
  2. Shift AF forward or backwards; usually at the request of the user.

 

Lens AF Shift

  • Match individual Lens to the camera body by correcting the Lens’s Front / Back AF.

Shutter Timing 

  • Adjusts the Shutter speed. Required with most new shutters.

  • This is a troubleshooting tool.  Overheating problems can be very hard to find without this tool.
  • Checks the temperature of the EF Unit, Shutter, CMOS Unit.

 

 

Auto Exposure Calibration

 

Backup

  1. Backup the AE Data separately.
  2. Restore the AE Data without effecting other camera adjustments. 

 

 

Calibration

  • Calibrate the Automatic Exposure System 
  • Requires a calibrated Light Box!

 

 

Sensor Output

  1. Checks the ‘Live’ output of the AE Cells.
  2. Can be used to check AE Unit alignment.
  3. Reads the Minimum, Maximum and Average light readings.

 

 

AE Shift

  1. Shift the output of the AE sensors up or down.
  2. This feature allow you to deliberately make the camera ‘Under’ or ‘Over’ exposure.

Initialize the Main Board

  1. Initialize new Main Boards.  Required for new Main Boards.
  2. Initialization should also be done if you are installing a good used Main Board, but have been unable to backup the calibration data from the original Main Board.

 

Load Calibration

  • Load the saved Calibration Data files into the the new Main Board.

 

Model and Serial

  1. View and change the cameras electronic serial number.  Serial numbers are stored on several boards and all should agree with the serial number on the outside of the camera.
  2. View and change the Model Name.  
    • Important: Changing the Serial Number to anything other than a legitimate Canon Serial number can seriously damage the camera.

 

 

Defaults and Geographical

 

Standard Defaults

  1. Reset the user settings to factory defaults.
  2. Reset the file system to zero.
  3. Reset to date and time to factory settings.
  4. Reset language to English.
  5. Clear Author and Copyright information.

 

Regional Defaults

  • Reset language, video system and date / time format to North American, Japan, China, Europe (rest of the world).
