General:

  1. Read the Model and Firmware Version.
  2. Read and Change the Serial Number.
  3. Read the Shutter Count.
  4. Read the Release Count.
  5. CameraFAX - Before and After Service.
  • Important: Changing the Serial Number to anything other than a legitimate Canon Serial number can seriously damage the camera.
  • Shutter, Mirror and Total Release Count changes are done using the Shutter Calibration Plugin.

 

Error Codes:

  1. Read the Latest Error and the last 8 Internal Error Codes.
  2. Read the Possible Causes.
  3. Know the Lens installed on the camera when the error happened.
  4. Know the Date the Error happened.
  5. Know Shot / Shutter count when the error happened.
  6. Clear the Error Codes after Service.

 

Calibration Data:

  1. Save the Camera Calibration Data from the Main Board.
  2. Load the Camera Calibration Data into a new Main Board.
  3. Use salvage Main Boards for a repair.
  4. View the transfer process through the status bar at the bottom
  • Note:  Calibration Data file is the Camera Data and does not include the Digital Data.

 

User Settings:

  1. Save the User Settings file to your PC.
  2. Load / restore the User Setting the User Settings after service.
  3. View the Transfer process through the status bar at the bottom

Shutter Calibration

 

Shutter Timing 

  1. Read and change the Shutter Timing. 
  • If you replace the Shutter. 
  • If you replace the Main Board without the original Camera Data.

 

 

X Contact Timing

  1. Read and Change X Contact Timing.
  • If you replace the Shutter
  • If you replace the Main Board without the original Camera Data
  • If your customer reports vignetting on flash photos.

 

 

Shutter Count

  1. Read and Change the Shutter Count.
  2. Read and Reset the Previous Shutter Count.
  3. Read the Total Shutter Count
  • If you replace the Shutter
  • If you replace the Main Board without the original Camera Data

 

Release Count

  1. Read and Change the Total Release Count.
  • Important:  Only change the Total Release Count if you replace the Main Board without the original Camera Data. Then reset Total Release to the count number held on the old Main Board.

 

 

Main Board Replacement

 

Backup Calibration

  1. Whenever possible, before replacing the Main Board, backup all camera calibration files in one easy step.
  • Note:  Main Board Calibration files includes Camera and Digital Data.

 

 

Initialize the Main Board

  1. Initialization is required when a new Main Board is Installed.

 

 

Load Calibration

  1. Load the saved Calibration Data files into the the new Main Board.

 

 

 

Model and Serial

  1. View and change the cameras electronic serial number.  Serial numbers are stored on several boards and all should agree with the serial number on the outside of the camera.
  2. View and change the Model Name.  
  • Important: Changing the Serial Number to anything other than a legitimate Canon Serial number can seriously damage the camera.
  • Important:  Loosing power or interrupting the upload or download process may damage your Main Board.

I recently purchased the software for the Eos R so I can swap out a main board with a damaged SD card slot. Have a bit of an issue and wondered if you had ever seen it.?


I have popped the new pcb into the camera to start the process of sending over all the data, the new board just puts the SD card read/write light on solidly and wont let me do anything else, no buttons respond, I remember on the 5D MK IV having to tape up a battery con [...read more]

Charles ..... Sorry to say I'm in trouble again. The problem is I attach the camera and "connect" the camera opens the shutter and the LCD shows image although there is no lens but if I change the view the brightness changes. Then the software advises the board requires re initialising It wont allow to change any settings, on the camera (its locked in P with red led on the back glowing away)
