I recently purchased the software for the Eos R so I can swap out a main board with a damaged SD card slot. Have a bit of an issue and wondered if you had ever seen it.?

I have popped the new pcb into the camera to start the process of sending over all the data, the new board just puts the SD card read/write light on solidly and wont let me do anything else, no buttons respond, I remember on the 5D MK IV having to tape up a battery contact and was wondering if this could be something similar.? I’m hoping it’s not something canon have done to stop us from swapping the pcb out.

Kind regards ... Stu Hale, Don Clark Camera Repairs

All sorted, it did indeed connect ok, can I make a suggestion that you might want to think about re-writing the procedure for replacing the main pcb on this model as every other model I have done with your great software the camera powers up and allows you to do the firmware etc, so it had me very confused when there was only the SD card red light when I put the new board in, I presumed I had a faulty new main pcb. ...
