Essential

General:

  • Read the Model, Firmware version, Shutter and Release Counts.
    • Change the Shutter and Release Counts through the Shutter Calibration Plugin.

  • Read and Change the Serial Number.  Important:  Altering the Serial Number to anything other than an authentic Canon Serial Number can result in damage to the camera. 

 

Error Codes:

  • Read the last 8 internal Error Codes and their probable causes.
  • Know the Date, Release Count, and Lens in use when the errors happened.
  • Clear the Error Codes following your service.

 

Calibration Data:

  • Transfer Calibration Data from your old Main Board to a reliable, pre-owned Main Board.
  • New Main Boards must be initialized using the Main Board Replacement Plugin.

 

User Settings:

  • Download the User's settings and restore the settings after adjustments or repair.

 

Professional CameraFAX:

  • Before and After Report for your customers!
  • Data from your camera and plugins creates this detailed report.
  • Headers and Footers can include your contact details, business information, logo, and warranty details.

Shutter Calibration

Shutter Timing:

  • Review and adjust the Shutter Timing settings.
    • When you replace the Shutter, the Shutter Timing must be adjusted at the highest speed.
    • When replacing the Main Board without the original Camera Data.

 

X Contact Timing:

  • Review and adjust X Contact Timing.
    • If you replace the Shutter
    • When replacing the Main Board without the original Camera Data.
    • In cases where customers report vignetting in flash photos.

 

Shutter Count:

  • Review and change the Shutter Count.
    • Reset the Shutter Count to '0' when replacing the Shutter with a New Shutter.
    • If you use a Good Used Shutter; reset the Shutter Count to match the number of activations made by the newly installed used shutter.
    • Reset the shutter count when replacing the Main Board without the original Camera Data.

 

Previous Shutters:

  • Review or modify the Previous Shutter Count.

IMPORTANT:  The Previous Shutter Count is an important measure of the camera's use.  Only adjust Previous Shutter Count when replacing the Main Board without the original Camera Data and make sure that it matches the original count.

 

 

Release Count:

IMPORTANT:  The Total Release Count is an important measure of the camera's use.  Only adjust Total Count when replacing the Main Board without the original Camera Data and make sure that it matches the previous Main Board's count.

 

 

 

Main Board Replacement

Backup Calibration

  • Backup Calibration BEFORE REMOVING THE FAULTY MAIN BOARD.

 

Initialize Board

  • Initialization is REQUIRED when installing a New Board.

 

Load Calibration

  • Upload the cameras original calibration file into your new Main Board.

 

Model and Serial Number

  • These features are not needed if you have uploaded the camera's original calibration file
  • Change the Electronic Serial Number to match the label on the bottom of the camera.

  • Make sure the Sensor ID on the Main Board matches the one on the Sensor PCB for the defect map. If they don't match due to missing Calibration Data, click 'Copy ID of Main Board' to sync them. For visible defects, send the camera to Canon for the correct defect map.

 

  • Model names can differ based on location. You can use 'Change Model Name' for your specific location.

Charles ..... Sorry to say I'm in trouble again. The problem is I attach the camera and "connect" the camera opens the shutter and the LCD shows image although there is no lens but if I change the view the brightness changes. Then the software advises the board requires re initialising It wont allow to change any settings, on the camera (its locked in P with red led on the back glowing away)

Any help would be appreciated ... Richard, Camera Service Centre, Sydney
