Calibrate your shutter without expensive test Equipment

With the Shutter Plugin, you can:

  1. Calibrate the high shutter speed(s) in your newly installed shutter.
  2. Check the X Contact Time, adjust if necessary.
  3. Reset the Current Shutter Count, to '0" for a new shutter.
  4. Review the camera’s Shutter Replacement History.
  5. Check Release Count to confirm the camera's usage. Adjust only when necessary.
  6. The R6 allows you to Change the Release Count but do this only when necessary. Read Understanding Release Count!

Understanding Release Count

The Total Release Count is a crucial record of the camera’s usage!  Total Release Count includes all activations, including shutter actuations, live view usage, and other functions that trigger the release mechanism.

⚠️  Consumers often ask for the Shutter Count to gauge usage, actually meaning ‘they want the Release Count’. You should be aware that many third-party softwares mislabel the Release Count as Shutter Count, which does create confusion.

⚠️  Only adjust Release Count when replacing the Main Board without the original data, to ensure that it matches the previous board's count.

Shutter Calibration

The Shutter Plugin utilizes histograms for fast, professional shutter speed adjustments—eliminating the need for costly test equipment.

⚠️ Histograms require a calibrated light source, such as a Lightbox, for accurate results.

Designed for efficiency, the software guides you through the process, saving time and effort.

Here are a few temperature-related issues

  • Soft focus on hot days – Caused by changes in Lens Flange/CMOS distance.
  • Random overexposure or underexposure – Due to fluctuations in AE current.
  • Dark images at high shutter speeds – Resulting from Shutter temperature changes.
  • Flash malfunctions – Triggered by temperature shifts in the EF unit.

  1. The Last 8 Internal Error Code – The specific code for each error.
  2. The Probable Cause – A likely explanation for the error.
  3. The Lens on the Camera – Which lens was attached when the error occurred.
  4. The Date of the Error – When the problem happened.
  5. The Release Count at the Time of the Error – The camera’s usage count when the error occurred.
  6. Clear the Error Codes - after you complete your repair.

The Internal Error Code Tab is a powerful tool that will save you time and frustration, even with hard-to-pin-down intermittent problems.

When paired with Camera FAX, the Before and After Report becomes a powerful sales tool, highlighting the results of your work and building customer trust.
