Key Information

  • The Canon RP has fixed factory presets for shutter speed and X Contact settings, making them non-adjustable.
  • The Canon RP lacks a shutter count; it only records the Release Count.

Essential

General:

  • Read the camera’s Model, Firmware version and Release Count.
    • Changes to the Total Release Count are done through the Shutter Calibration Plugin.
  • Read and Change the Serial Number.

Important:  Altering the Serial Number to anything other than an authentic Canon Serial Number can result in severe damage to the camera.

Error Codes:

  • Retrieve the last 8 internal Error Codes along with their possible causes.
  • Identify the Date, Shutter Count, and Lens that were in use on the camera when the errors occurred.
  • Clear the Error Codes following your service.

Calibration Data:

  • You can use Professional to transfer the Calibration Data from your old Main Board to a RELIABLE USED Main Board.

  • You MUST use the Main Board Replacement Plugin to transfer the Calibration Data from your old Main Board to a NEW Main Board.

User Settings:

  • Download the user's camera settings to your PC and use them to restore those settings after adjustments or major repair like a Main Board replacement.

Professional CameraFAX:

  • CameraFAX provides your customers with a comprehensive pre- and post-repair service report, offering indisputable proof of the service performed.

  • CameraFAX uses the data uploaded from your camera, organized by Essential and your Plugins, to generate a comprehensive camera report.

  • Customize headers and footers with your contact information.
    • Include business details, logo, and warranty information

Shutter Calibration

Shutter Timing:

  • Although you can test shutter timing, Canon RP shutter come with fixed factory presets for shutter speed and X Contact settings, making them non-adjustable.

Release Count:

  • Unlike most EOS cameras, the EOS RP does not have a separate shutter count.  Therefore, when replacing the shutter you should reset the Release Count to Zero.

Previous Shutters:

  • Review or modify the Previous Shutter Count.

IMPORTANT:  The Previous Shutter Count is an important measure of the camera's use.  Only adjust Previous Shutter Count when replacing the Main Board without the original Camera Data and make sure that it matches the original count.

Main Board Replacement

Backup Calibration

  • Backup Calibration BEFORE REMOVING THE FAULTY MAIN BOARD.

Initialize Board

  • Initialization is REQUIRED when installing a New Board, BUT it is NOT REQUIRED when installing a Good Used Board.

Load Calibration

  • Upload the cameras original calibration file from your PC into your New or Used Main Board.

Model and Serial Number

  • You have the option to modify the Serial Number, update the Sensor ID, and alter the Model name. However, these adjustments are unnecessary if you've uploaded the camera's original calibration file.
    • The Serial Numbers must match the label on the bottom of the camera.

  • The Sensor ID saved on the Main Road should be consistent with the one stored in the Sensor PCB since it represents the sensor's defect map. If you haven't uploaded the original Calibration Data, the IDs won't be in sync. Clicking 'Copy ID of Main Board' will harmonize the IDs. However, in the case of noticeable sensor defects, you'll need to send the camera to Canon for them to load the correct defect map.

  • Model names may vary in different geographic locations.

Temperature

Temperature:

  • The Temperature plugin gives real-time readings from all of the camera's internal temperature sensors.  It is an invaluable tool for addressing difficult to diagnose issues.  The Temperature plugin Help file includes information for effectively identifying temperature-related issues.

Defaults and Geographical

Standard Defaults

  • Resetting User and Customer Functions, File Systems, Date and Time, Language, Artistic Information, and Copyright Information to their factory default settings is an invaluable procedure when it comes to preparing the camera for resale, calibrating it, or providing servicing.

Regional Defaults

  • This feature empowers you!    It enables you to source Main Boards from across the globe and configure them to suit your specific geographical area.

CMOS Calibration

Note: CMOS Calibration is not a remedy for addressing hot or dead pixels!

DSLR calibration matches the camera's systems with the CMOS sensor. With Digital Mirrorless cameras, this also requires intricate calculations for ISO readings.  Your SPT software does all the hard work for you. And, our 'Help' gives step-by-step guidance to help you understand the process.

Lightbox/Lens Compensation

  • For precise CMOS calibration, you ned to create a Compensation File that aligns your lightbox, test lens and a known good camera.
    • Lightbox/ Lens Compensation should be done about once a year.

CMOS Calibration

  • CMOS Calibration is necessary
    • When you've replaced the Main PCB but you were not able to save the ori
