Essential

General:

  • Read the camera’s Model, Firmware, Serail number, Shutter, Mirror and Release Count.
    • Changes to the Total Release Count are done through the Shutter Calibration Plugin.
  • Read and Change the Serial Number.

Important:  Altering the Serial Number to anything other than an authentic Canon Serial Number can result in severe damage to the camera. 

 

Error Codes:

  • Retrieve the last 8 internal Error Codes along with their possible causes.
  • Identify the Date, Shutter Count, and Lens that were in use on the camera when the errors occurred.
  • Clear the Error Codes following your service.

 

Calibration Data:

  • You can use Professional to transfer the Calibration Data from your old Main Board to a RELIABLE USED Main Board.

 

  • You MUST use the Main Board Replacement Plugin to transfer the Calibration Data from your old Main Board to a NEW Main Board.
 

User Settings:

  • Download the user's camera settings to your PC and use them to restore those settings after adjustments or major repair like a Main Board replacement.

Auto Focus Calibration

 

The Auto Focus Calibration Plugin improves your camera's body’s focus performance.  This service is in demand among customers who seek the optimal focus from their lenses.

 

  • Backup AF data before adjustment.
  • Calibrate a Test Lens using a high quality prime lens.
  • Sensor Output allows you to Inspect individual AF sensors for dust and alignment with the focusing screen.
  • AF Calibrate is used for automatic calibration of the camera body’s Auto Focus System. 
  • For flexibility, Enable Sensors + AF Shift is used for manual calibration of the camera body’s Auto Focus System.

 

 

Auto Exposure Calibration

 

Backup:

 

Calibration:

  • Calibrate the Automatic Exposure System when replacing the AE Unit or Main Board without the original data.
    • Requires a calibrated Light Box!

 

Sensor Output

  • Monitor AE Cell output in real-time each matrix cell for operation and alignment.
  • Quickly review Minimum, Maximum, and Average light readings for efficient analysis.

 

AE Shift

  • Shift allows you to make precise adjustments to AE (Auto Exposure) display and exposure settings.
    • Requires a calibrated Light Box!

 

Shutter Calibration

Shutter Timing:

  • Review and adjust the Shutter Timing settings.
    • When you replace the Shutter, the Shutter Timing must be adjusted at the highest speed.
    • When replacing the Main Board without the original Camera Data.

 

X Contact Timing:

  • Review and adjust X Contact Timing if necessary.
    • If you replace the Shutter
    • When replacing the Main Board without the original Camera Data.
    • In cases where customers report vignetting in flash photos.

 

Shutter Count:

  • Review and change the Shutter Count.
    • Reset the Shutter Count to '0' when replacing the Shutter with a New Shutter.
    • If you use a Good Used Shutter; reset the Shutter Count to match the number of activations made by the newly installed used shutter.
    • Reset the shutter count when replacing the Main Board without the original Camera Data.

 

Previous Shutters:

  • Review or modify the Previous Shutter Count.

IMPORTANT:  The Previous Shutter Count is an important measure of the camera's use.  Only adjust Previous Shutter Count when replacing the Main Board without the original Camera Data and make sure that it matches the original count.

 

 

Mirror Count:

  • Review and change the Mirror Count.
    • Reset the Mirror Count to ‘0’ when replacing the Mirror with a New Mirror box.
    • Reset the Mirror Count when replacing the Main Board without the original Camera Data.

 

Previous Mirror Boxes:

  • Review or modify the Previous Mirror box Count.

IMPORTANT:  The Previous Mirror box Count is an important measure of the camera's use.  Only adjust Previous Mirror box Count when replacing the Main Board without the original Camera Data and make sure that it matches the original count.

 

 

Release Count:

  • Review or modify the Previous Release Count.

IMPORTANT:  The Total Release Count is an important measure of the camera's use.  Only adjust Total Count when replacing the Main Board without the original Camera Data and make sure that it matches the previous Main Board's count.

 

Main Board Replacement

 

Backup Calibration

  1. Whenever possible, before replacing the Main Board, backup all camera calibration files in one easy step.

 

Initialize the Main Board

  1. Initialization is required when a new Main Board is Installed.
  2. Initialization is also required if you are installing a good used Main Board, but have been unable to backup the calibration data from the original Main Board.

Load Calibration

  1. Load the saved Calibration Data files into the the new Main Board.

 

Model and Serial

  1. View and change the cameras electronic serial number.  Serial numbers are stored on several boards and all should agree with the serial number on the outside of the camera.
  2. View and change the Model Name.  
  • Important: Changing the Serial Number to anything other than a legitimate Canon Serial number can seriously damage the camera.

Temperature

 

Temperature:

  • The Temperature plugin gives real-time readings from all of the camera's internal temperature sensors.  It is an invaluable tool for addressing difficult to diagnose issues.  The Temperature plugin Help file includes information for effectively identifying temperature-related issues.

Standard Defaults

  • Resetting User and Customer Functions, File Systems, Date and Time, Language, Artistic Information, and Copyright Information to their factory default settings is an invaluable procedure when it comes to preparing the camera for resale, calibrating it, or providing servicing.
