It only works on the 40D, 450, and 1000D.

This software uses Canon SDK (developer tools) which is downloadable from the Canon site. So more models will probably appear in the future on this and other sites.

SDK only offers normal functions to PC so it won't allow error codes, shutter timing, ae, af .. etc. that you get with SPT Service Adjustment Software ... those require a major league coding from scratch, we know those aren't simple!

We also don't know right now if you are seeing shutter or mirror counts with this download.

Still this download will still help you out and will get you used to and moving your shop toward software based repairs.

Nikon
Opanda offers both armature (free download) and professional version ($) that will allow you to see the shutter count. While we haven it extensively tested this we know that it does work on many Canon models.

Look down the IExif file to line 0093. You will see a number like 18 00059196. The last numbers are the shutter count. You can test this out by releasing the camera and you will see the shutter count change.

"Opanda's site states that IExif 2.3 only supports Nikon's D200/D2H/D2X/D70(s)/D50(s) and later. I just verified this, in part, by checking a .jpg image from a D100 -- no data!. Same holds true for a .jpg from a Sony DSC-F828."

http://www.ghisler.com/picture.htm Look at the picture and you will see the split screen. You can have it on the right or left of you complete computer on it; Drive A through G. You can move folders or complete drives over to the left side and never bother the right side or the original.

Now the greatest part. Install a memory card or SD card in your reader. In the right side it will show what is on the card; bad files, good files. You can delete the bad files and save the rest or transfer them over to the left side of the screen.

Then the memory card will work and you can see exactly what was wrong. I had a memory that wouldn�t work in the camera because of all the other files on folders on it. I deleted the bits of folders that were not good or incomplete, then put the card in the camera and it worked. It dose work and the time saved for us is money for sure.

We also tried three free data recovery programs with the following results:

LC-Tech's Photo recovery. Recovered 59 total files, 37 usable pictures.

Of the three the freeware software, PC inspector, appears to be the best, at least in our case. Hope this helps anyone else looking for data recovery. Note: 10/07 PC Inspector smart recovery did not recognize RAW.
