About UsSPT is a professional organization of camera technicians and businesses. We share information and resources in order to reduce expenses, increase incomes and reduce repair times. What SPT Members say: “ Thanks to all that gave me suggestions! I just realized that with this one job I was able to complete, thanks to your help, paid for 1/3 of my SPT dues. GREAT INVESTMENT!!!!!” “ As you can see via the attachment, I finally obtained access to the library (AKA part # and manual nirvana)!!!! …… I had a customer with a 20D that had a broken battery cover latch. We had close to insurmountable problems obtaining parts from Canon. I know now that that item is CG2-1379. That fragment of data resulted in $75ish transaction for us”
“I just wanted to thank all of you for your support and quick responses on all the parts I needed. I needed at least 6 parts to complete 6 repairs and I got a great response and quick service from all of you who participated!!!!!!! I have never had such an easy time of emailing all of you and getting what I needed, sitting at a computer! Thanks again, anyone needing parts, I’ll be watching!”
“Thanks Chuck, I agree, SPT is great!”
“…. the people I've introduced and nudged into joining SPT are still in business. Virtually every one of them has hired additional techs in the past year. Seems having access to people who like to share parts resources and a centralized information library has been an underlying factor in this. The bottom line is that when the rules change you can either change with them or be changed. Adaptation has usually proved to be more profitable.”
SPT members are excited about their memberships! You’ll judge for yourself but we’re positive that you’ll be excited also! Membership is active. Through participation, SPT become a huge resource for technical information and support. In today’s fast paced world, SPT must be in a continuous state of forward flux. To direct SPT resources, the Executive Director’s responsibility is to be connected and engaged at evey level of this industry. That makes you connected. Each year has seen an evolution and expansion of member benefits. But most members are more concerned with the benefits that affect them now. SPT isn’t some pie in the sky organization with esoteric goals. Our benefits are designed to give you instant profit! The benefits are synergetic, their sum is larger then the individual parts.
Let’s take a look at a short list of benefits: On-line Library. Instant access to information! And your library grows and grows. We add manuals weekly, even daily! SPTNET. Get plugged in to our email network! Expand your business using a worldwide group of experienced techs. Friendly and helpful! Put your tips and help into the pot and get ten in return. It’s a great investment of your time.
“I have one on the way, so please stop looking, you guys (and gals) are the best, I've had at least 5 offers. I guess it was not a long shot after all.”
Manufactured Parts. Although first stop is the manufacturer, many times you can’t get the specific part you need for an economical repair. To bridge the gap, SPT sponsors several vendors who manufacture or supply camera parts. Through our associated parts vendors you get a discount but most importantly you get that part. This project put $$$ into every shop. In 2007 we are expanding this resource. We intend to fill a glaring need by also manufacturing parts to order, quickly. We also intend to expand our list of vendors. Technical Information. In the past, SPT was mostly about Repair Journals, really only about journals. While we still produce these, we morphed into skill and model specific CDs. In 2007, our goal is to produce QuickTime videos that you’ll be able to download from the library. Times change / we change. Workshops. Sell out, kick butt workshops. Camera models that will put meat on the table. These are fluid, dynamic gatherings of professional techs. We cover lots more then teardowns and assemblies. These aren’t your granddads workshops. They are wild, fast-pasted brainstorm sessions. Happenings! We only get together once a year so all subjects are open, not just the models at the workshop. We don’t play it safe and we have no restrictions! So if you attend, be ready to hang on to your seat! You’ll come away with more then you ever expected. Congratulations! You have just super sized your business and techs by plugging into the world of camera repair. Chuck Bertone / Executive Director
